Many people do not have a Last Will and Testament, either because they haven’t gotten around to it, think that they are too young to need one, or maybe they don’t think that they have enough assets to warrant the expense.
However, even a person who is young and healthy will probably have entitlements under the Wills of their loved ones, which could amount to hundreds or thousands of dollars at any given time. Without a Will, your wishes will not be known and your Estate could be dispersed in any number of ways. Even if you have made your own Will, or used a Will Kit, you should seek legal advice to confirm that it is valid.
If you have completed a Will but it is not legally binding, your Estate will be treated as though you had no Will (or if you had a previous Will, then it will be considered your Last Will and Testament).
